The elderly visitor to Cambodia has a favorite place for retirement, KAMPOT. The only city next to the seaside, KEP, that has a great colonial history.
There are three things that really make retirement plans beneficial.
- One of the smallest cities in Cambodia with no industrial development. There is no plan to modernize this city from the government's perspective.
- This is a great weekend getaway for western workers in Phnom Penh. It's just two hours and a half away, so there is always a small number of tourists there. There are several foreigner communities there, one of which is a French-speaking community.
- Kep is only 30 minutes away from the sea. The beach is clean and there are many hikers who want a great hiking experience.
KAMPOT vs Sihanouk Ville.
In contrast, Sihanoukville is an industrial town that attracts mainly Chinese investors. Kampot remains a livable city for retirement plans.
Is Kampot a good place to retire?
The future of KAMPOT remains uncertain. No matter how developed it becomes, no matter where it is located and what infrastructure it has, the city will remain the top retirement destination.
